Siemens software licensing
Altair One: cloud licensing for the Siemens simulation software
One single pool of units for every application in the catalog and access from any computer with a browser. If your operation is going to have more than one user or more than one tool, it almost always works out better than licensing each product separately.
The model
How licensing by units works
In the classic model you buy one license per program and per workstation: if you do not use one of them for a month, you paid for it anyway, and if you need another one, that is a new purchase. Altair One turns that logic around. You contract a number of units and from there you open whichever application you need; while you keep it running it consumes units from the pool, and when you close it they are free again for something else or for someone else on the team.
In practice this means your investment stops being tied to one specific tool and becomes tied to how much you simulate. For a company that starts with casting simulation and over time adds structural analysis, it is usually the difference between being able to try things and not being able to.

What changes day to day
The whole catalog, one single pool
You do not buy application by application. You contract a number of units and spend them on whatever you use that day: casting simulation, structural analysis, optimization or data analysis.
Access from any computer
The applications open from the browser, so you do not depend on the computer where the license is installed. Useful if you work between the plant and the office, or if you have people at more than one site.
It grows without starting over
If two more people join next year or you want to try a new application, the pool of units is adjusted instead of negotiating a contract from scratch.
Applications you did not know you were going to need
The real advantage shows up when a problem appears outside your day-to-day—a vibration, a weight optimization, a thermal issue—and it turns out you already have what you need to attack it.
Before quoting
Does it suit you?
Not always. If you are going to use a single tool, at a single workstation and constantly, a traditional license can work out simpler and cheaper. The units scheme starts to pay off when there are several people, several plants or the intention of adding applications over time.
We quote both scenarios with your numbers—how many people, how often, which applications—and we tell you which one works out better, even if it is the one we least benefit from selling. The price is not public because it depends on those variables: that is why the conversation starts with questions and not with a price list.
And if you also want someone alongside you during the start-up, take a look at our consulting and the training plans.
The application almost everyone starts with
Altair One is the way in, not the destination. In high pressure die casting (HPDC), the tool that solves the day-to-day problem is Simcenter Inspire Cast: filling, trapped air, porosity and solidification. Start there and decide afterwards how to license it.
